Frictape was founded in 1977. In our early years the company concentrated on aviation engineering, using advanced textile engineering. Main products until 2004 were parachutes, arrestor nets for fighter jets and cars, as well as custom engineering projects. Customers ranged from military to commercial aviation. As one highlight, first-ever airliner cargo net for Airbus was designed and manufactured by Frictape.One of the most demanding solutions was SpiderNet arrestor net to stop fighter planes from runway overruns (below)In 2004, landing nets became the company’s main product as our safety nets were getting very popular in Europe as a modern, much safer and lower cost option to traditional safety nets. Company name was changed to Frictape in 2009.
